Private Lessons
Hello. I am happy you are interested in music lessons! Here are some of the things I can tell you about my program:
- Who - I teach students of all ages and all levels, including many adult beginners and re–starters.
- What - My lessons consist of one–on–one instruction for violin and viola students who come once a week for either 30, 40 or 55 minutes. I individualize the lesson structure for each student based on his/her needs and goals, and while I make strong use of the Suzuki classical repertoire, I also incorporate other worthwhile and enjoyable materials and styles of music. I encourage students to play in ensembles and/or orchestras and I am happy to assist them in preparing music for these outlets.
- When - During the school year I teach Tuesday through Thursday afternoons. We take the last week of every month off, thus students usually have three lessons per month. During summer months, lessons are flexibly scheduled to accommodate vacation times.
- Where - Lessons are taught out of my home studio located near Helman School in Ashland, Oregon.
- Why - My interest is always to inspire students and to nurture their love of music while helping them develop talent and interest into high levels of skill and enjoyment.
- New - Beginning fall 2020, I will incorporate into my private teaching, optional performance level examinations. These are short exams (e.g. 10 minutes) taken whenever a student feels ready. The exams are administered by the American String Teachers Association. Students who are interested may prepare and progress through ten levels of achievement and earn certificates along the way for each level!
- Fees - Tuition for private violin or viola lessons is paid at the first lesson of each month for that month. No refunds or credits are given for missed lessons.
